Matthew 9:29 … According to your faith be it unto you.

The Story: Matthew 9

27 ¶ And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou Son of David, have mercy on us.

28 And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that (GR Do you have faith that) I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord.

29 Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you.

30 And their eyes were opened; and Jesus straitly charged them, saying, See that no man know it.

31 But they, when they were departed, spread abroad his fame in all that country.

“According to your faith be it unto you.” Nowhere in this story does it talk about perfect faith. Or sustained absolute faith over a long period of time. We don’t know how long these men were believing for Jesus to heal them and restore their sight. We don’t know how strong their faith was. But when Jesus Christ asked if they had faith that he could heal them, they responded with a yes. And they were healed.

Sometimes, we can talk ourselves out of blessings because we think that our faith isn’t strong enough, or good enough, or that we haven’t had faith long enough. We try to gauge what we have faith to receive by our own imperfect standards and assessments.

What if, we instead worked on having faith in the moment? Instead of focusing on what we lack all day long, with periodic feelings of faith, what if we focused on life, on the present moment? Then when the thought of what we’re praying for we CHOOSE to believe for that moment?

This scripture can help us to believe in the moment, and as we continue to have those moments of choosing to believe, we’ll grow the kind of faith that allows us to receive the blessings we seek.
